Our core commitment

  • We do not sell student data. Ever.
  • We do not sell or rent parent or family contact information.
  • We collect only what we need to provide educational services.
  • We comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

1. Who we are

Landmark Academy is a program of Landmark Living History Institute (LLHI), a Missouri 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity (EIN 41-4512644). 2. Information we collect

From families applying or enrolling

  • Parent/guardian name, email address, phone number
  • Student name, grade level, and educational history
  • Responses to enrollment questions (learning goals, accommodations needed)
  • Payment information processed by Stripe (we do not store card numbers)

From website visitors

  • Anonymized page views via Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with IP anonymization enabled
  • Form submissions (contact, enrollment interest, partnership inquiries)
  • Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, referring URL) — not linked to personal identity

Student education records

For enrolled students, we maintain educational records including course completion, grades, transcripts, and attendance in accordance with FERPA. These records are accessible to parents/guardians and eligible students (18+) upon request.

3. FERPA — Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

Landmark Academy complies with FERPA, which grants parents and eligible students the right to:

  • Inspect and review education records
  • Request correction of records believed to be inaccurate or misleading
  • Consent to disclosure of records (with limited exceptions)

We do not disclose student education records to third parties without written consent from the parent/guardian (or eligible student), except as permitted by FERPA (e.g., to school officials with legitimate educational interest, or as required by law).

To request access to or correction of your student's records, contact: hello@landmarkacademics.org

4. COPPA — Children's Online Privacy Protection Act

COPPA applies to the online collection of personal information from children under 13. Landmark Academy does not directly collect personal information from students under 13 through this website. All enrollment and account creation is performed by a parent or guardian on behalf of their child.

If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. Contact us at hello@landmarkacademics.org if you believe this has occurred.

5. Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our site. We have enabled IP anonymization, which means Google truncates IP addresses before storage. GA4 data is used only in aggregate to improve our website and understand which content helps families.

GA4 uses cookies. You may opt out of GA4 tracking by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

We do not use GA4 data for advertising retargeting or behavioral profiling of students or families.

6. Stripe (payment processing)

Tuition payments and donations are processed by Stripe, Inc. Landmark Academy does not store credit card or bank account numbers. All payment data is transmitted directly to and stored by Stripe. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.

7. Netlify (website hosting and forms)

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. Form submissions made through this site are transmitted to and temporarily stored by Netlify before being forwarded to Landmark staff. Netlify's privacy policy is available at netlify.com/privacy.

8. Third-party curriculum and learning platforms

Landmark Academy uses third-party platforms to deliver curriculum and learning management. Each platform maintains its own privacy policy:

  • Prenda — K–8 curriculum delivery (prenda.com)
  • Subject.com / Arizona State University Global Prep — dual credit and college pathway courses
  • MilestoneMap — student planning platform, operated by Landmark Academic Records Consulting, LLC

We select third-party platforms based on their data protection practices and COPPA/FERPA compliance. We do not permit third-party platforms to sell or monetize student data.

9. How we use your information

We use collected information solely to:

  • Process enrollment applications and communicate with families
  • Deliver educational services and maintain student records
  • Send school-related communications (event announcements, academic updates)
  • Process tuition payments
  • Respond to inquiries submitted through our website forms
  • Improve our website and educational offerings

We do not use your information for advertising, behavioral tracking, or commercial profiling.

10. Data sharing

We do not sell personal information to any third party. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Stripe (payments), Netlify (hosting/forms), Google (analytics — anonymized), curriculum platforms — solely to provide contracted services
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of students or staff
  • With your consent: For any other disclosure, we will ask first

11. Data retention

We retain student education records for a minimum of five years after the student's last active enrollment, consistent with standard educational records retention practices. Contact information for non-enrolling inquiries is retained for up to two years. GA4 analytics data is retained for 14 months per our GA4 account settings.

12. Your rights

You may request to:

  • Access personal information we hold about you or your child
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete non-educational-record personal information (subject to legal obligations)
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

Submit requests to: hello@landmarkacademics.org

13. Security

We use HTTPS encryption for all data transmission. Access to student records and enrollment data is restricted to authorized Landmark staff on a need-to-know basis. We conduct periodic reviews of our data security practices.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect when the policy was last revised. Material changes will be communicated to enrolled families by email.
